These cookies are requested every Christmas by my kiddos. They are delicious bite size cookies that melt away in your mouth. Mmmmm, good! The recipe is super easy and it makes a lot.
You will need a cookie gun (cookie press) for this recipe.
Butter Spritz Cookies
1 1/4c. butter, softened
3/4c. powdered sugar
2 1/2c. all purpose flour
1/2t. almond extract
non-pareils (assorted sugar sprinkles)
In a large bowl, cream butter. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add flavorings and combine. Add flour and mix well.
Use a cookie press to extrude cookies into your desired shape onto ungreased cookie sheets. Top with your favorite sprinkles. Bake at 325* for 15 minutes. Catch them just before they begin to brown. Cool on wire racks.
*Be careful these cookies tend to jump in your mouth without mercy every time you pass the cookie jar.
Though I tend to make these cookies only around Christmas time they’d be good any time of year. Depending on which disk (shape) you put into your cookie press you could personalize them for any holiday or even keep them non-seasonal.
