You may remember last week I was being a little curmudgeonly about hauling out and putting up our Christmas decorations. I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed lately…hubby on the road a lot, getting the house ready to go on the market next month, preparing for the new puppy, baking like a mad woman…spreading peace, love, joy, & goodwill throughout the land (HA!) Anyway, we have managed to put up a few decorations after all.
This nativity is one of our most meaningful Christmas decor traditions. My sweetie and I got the hand carved wooden figures when we lived in Germany and visited a little Bavarian town named Oberammergau. They’ve been doing a passion play there every 10 years since 1633. In the village there are lots of little shops with nativity figures. We spent some time in the shop where we purchased ours and actually saw the man carving and painting them. Really cool! We got the creche from Harrod’s department store in London.
