Burlap Table Runner

Today I want to share a quick and easy craft project with you.

I made this cute burlap table runner in less than an hour and it cost less than $4 to put together.  I think it adds just the right touch of rustic style to my dining room table.

Raised Herb Beds

This is the latest installment in the backyard landscape project.  I think this backyard has become one of those projects that never ends.  One things leads to another, and another, and another…you know how that goes.  You may remember some of the earlier projects from here, here, and here.  In case you don’t have every detail and nuance of my life memorized this is what my “plan” looked like.

If you look at the bottom of the picture, up against the house, you will see where I imagined the raised beds  to be.  Initially I thought we might be able to make them rounded with soft curves.  From an installation perspective that just became too difficult.  It wasn’t that the rounding was too hard, but we were worried about the weight load from the dirt behind the structure affecting the stability of the wall.  Soooo, we adapted the plan.  The finished product has angled corners instead of rounded ones.

Here’s how it all went down.

Spring Wreath

I want to show you the update I did on my burlap wreaths.  You may remember when I first made my Noodle Wreaths last summer.  Well, they just haven’t held up very well.  I don’t know if it’s because they take that direct afternoon sun & heat or not?  They just got floppy and ended up being more of a teardrop shape than a circle.  Yuck.  SOOOoooo, I decided to redo them.  Actually I ended up just starting over from scratch.

CD Rack

Because we are a hundred years old, we still have CDs.  We have lots of them.  And because I’m incredibly OCD I like to keep them all together in an organized fashion – yes, they’re all alphabetized and sub-sorted by genre.  At our old house I was able to keep all of the CDs in flat boxes under the guest bed.  I thought it would be nice, in this house, to store them in the space where they were actually being used.  I looked all over for pre-fab CD racks; but everything I saw was too furniture like in addition to being too expensive.

The Big Picture

I want to tell you about the great price I got on a photo enlargement.

This is a picture of Sanford Stadium.  It’s the football stadium at The University of Georgia.  I took this picture myself with my little point and shoot camera. Continue reading The Big Picture »
