A Bicycle in the Garden

Okay, I know it may sound a little kooky but I’ve been dreaming of finding a vintage bicycle to put in my backyard. Here are some pretties that I pinned.

I’ve had this bicycle thing in the back of my mind for awhile, so when out thrifting or yardsaling (they’re both verbs, right) I’ve been on the lookout. Well, my patience paid off last weekend.

This is the latest installment in the backyard landscape project. I think this backyard has become one of those projects that never ends. One things leads to another, and another, and another…you know how that goes. You may remember some of the earlier projects from here, here, and here. In case you don’t have every detail and nuance of my life memorized this is what my “plan” looked like.

If you look at the bottom of the picture, up against the house, you will see where I imagined the raised beds to be. Initially I thought we might be able to make them rounded with soft curves. From an installation perspective that just became too difficult. It wasn’t that the rounding was too hard, but we were worried about the weight load from the dirt behind the structure affecting the stability of the wall. Soooo, we adapted the plan. The finished product has angled corners instead of rounded ones.

Spring Wreath

I want to show you the update I did on my burlap wreaths. You may remember when I first made my Noodle Wreaths last summer. Well, they just haven’t held up very well. I don’t know if it’s because they take that direct afternoon sun & heat or not? They just got floppy and ended up being more of a teardrop shape than a circle. Yuck. SOOOoooo, I decided to redo them. Actually I ended up just starting over from scratch.

Bottle Tree

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. I sure did. My babies were home for several weeks. We enjoyed spending time together doing a lot of nothing. It was great, nice and quiet, & super relaxing. We watched lots of movies, cooked and baked together, and did a day trip or two.

I know I’ve been on a landscape kick with my latest posts. I promise we’re coming down the home stretch on that.

Backyard Trellis

Sorry for my prolonged absence. I really am the worst blogger ever…

Between a house full for Thanksgiving, decking the halls, falalalala-ing, and spreading cheer & sugary treats throughout the land I haven’t had a minute to spare. I really don’t know how some of these ladies do it. I am in AWE.
