Here is a quickie tip for today.  As you know, my sweetie and I are empty nesters.  Well..until you get to this point in your life what you may not know is that even though your little chickadees leave the nest they tend to leave a LOT of their treasures belongings stuff behind.  “Oh no Mom don’t get rid of that, I still need it”.  Some of the strangest things are the things they want to hold on to.

Yes, I know I have a little problem of naming inanimate objects.  (Like Roxanne).  I come by it naturally though – it’s an inherited family trait.  It all started with my Memaw naming her cars, and from there I suppose there has been a trickle down effect.

Patriotic Porch

In the theme of all things Fourth of July this week, I thought I’d share my patriotic porch decorations with you.

I always loved the Fourth of July as a kid.  We used to spend every summer with my grandparents.  They had a very rustic cottage on the Potomac River in the Northern Neck area of Virginia.  We always had SO MUCH FUN!  We played in and on the river, went on tractor rides, caught lightning bugs, and got our fill of fresh seafood and Memaw’s fried chicken.  The Fourth at River House, that’s what we called the place, would usually include: piles of extended family and friends, a crab feast (with blue crabs – of course), fresh corn on the cob, water skiing, and fireworks once the sun went down.  So many happy memories.
