What a happy day when those cabinets were installed. After all of the chaos, mess, and waiting once the cabinets arrived it seemed like ‘it’ was really going to happen.
Here are the kitchen cabinets, just waiting to be hung.

Construction began in mid-June. On the first of August the sheet-rock was delivered. What an exciting day!
It seems quick now, but at the time it couldn’t go fast enough for me. We were in a temporary apartment; and it was just awful. All of our household goods were in storage. We had no idea when that moving truck came in April to take our stuff away we wouldn’t see it again until the middle of October. Ugghhh!! I’m sure you’re sitting on pins and needles to see what happens next in the great Johnson House Build Extravaganza. Well on today’s menu we have framing.
I really started to get excited when the framing went up. At that point you could really begin to see what rooms were what. I’ve always been fascinated with houses and even playing house. When I was little I used to rake up pine straw in the back yard. (I’m from the south y’all – we didn’t have leaves, but we had plenty of pine straw). I have distinct memories of raking my pine straw into paths and squares for my ‘house’. Even as a little one I was obsessed with houses. The obsession continues to this day. Once construction got started (it started about 6 months later than we were initially planning) things moved pretty quickly.
